DomuSwap: A New Take On Real Estate
This is kind of an intriguing idea. DomuSwap is an online real estate community that allows you to post you home or land, enter the details of what you are looking for and DomuSwap will find matches in other people that are trying to sell their home, in effect letting you swap homes.
When DomuSwap was first mentioned to me and it was explained how they had set up their model I was told that it used the same ideas as a dating site; i.e. based on the information and criteria entered by each user they match you up with existing users. I was very skeptical and not sure if something like that would work. Now that I have actually been to the site I can see that it does, and it's a pretty interesting idea.
I has gotten pretty hard to sell your home lately depending on your location and for homeowners this is almost a godsend. Obviously if you are trying to sell your house you most likely have either already found something else to buy or you are still looking. For the second group of people DomuSwap can be an invaluable addition to the tools that you are already using. It's free to use and you can try it out without any kind of obligation or risk. Once you have entered your homes information then you can see all of the other homes whose owners might be interested in a trade with you. You can get daily emails of all the houses that match what you are looking for as well as properties that may be available through a multi-party swap.
For Realtors it can also be a helpful tool. By trading/selling a home through DomuSwap you get to keep your commision and possibly even two if there are no other Realtors working that deal, you get 100% control over the listing and can edit it at any time, and get a direct link to your web site as well.
According to the Gulf Coast Business Review...
I also came across this news report from the Sarasota area that was up on Youtube that offers a bit of helpful information on DomuSwap.
I've been talking recently about the possibility of moving within the next year myself and most likely I will end up staying in the southeast as that is where most of the open positions in my company are. At the time of this writing DomuSwap currently has 399 listed homes in the areas that I might possibly be promoted to. I know in my subdivision alone there are at least 15 houses that have been on the market for over a year. They just aren't moving and DomuSwap might just be the solution for that. Check it out and tell me what you think. I would be interested in hearing other people's opinions on DomuSwap as well.
