My computer is dying a slow death. I have backed up most of my important stuff, but not recently. I think I am going to try and set up an online copy of my main hard drive just in case it goes kablooey before I am ready to replace it.

I'm actually thinking about getting two new computers connected by a KVM switch. My main PC will most likely be a Mac or Linux box and the second I want to use a laptop running Windows. I really like Windows Vista and would prefer at least one of them to be running Windows. I like 'nix as well though. It may be that I do just the opposite though and run Windows on my desktop so that any gaming I do will be on my desktop PC.

I guess it doesn't really matter what I run just as long as I do it soon. Too many lockups and slowness on this thing.

Riley and RePete

This is my daughter RePete and our dog Riley. I took this when my daughter was about one and a half. I love this picture. Riley is about nine years old now and when we first got him I hated the stupid dog. The feeling was mutual. Over the years though we've kind of grown to like each other. I love the stupid dog and both of us enjoy playing together.

We got a cat a while back and Mr Stretchy Cat has pretty much taken over the dog's bed so we have been looking at pet beds lately. Sooner or later I will find one that I think he will like and pick it up. Considering that he usually either sleeps on or under our bed it's not as if it's really important right now.

I have been really bad this past year about tracking our spending and balancing my checkbook. I used to be very meticulous, almost anal about it, recording every single expenditure that we had. I am still like that with work but here at home I have had almost a laissez-faire attitude about it and I am not sure why. It's not that I am bouncing checks or anything but several important things have gone unpaid. I just finished dealing with one creditor over the phone a few minutes ago that I should have taken care of months ago. It was for a hospital bill for my wife. I don't know if I never received it or just lost it but they wanted their money and I don't blame them. When I provide someone with a service I expect to be paid for it, and on time, so I went ahead and forked over the $300 and told them to have a nice day.

I normally use Quicken and actually just got the upgrade in the mail the other day. I guess maybe I need to take a look at my schedule and 'budget' in a little time for bill tracking during the day. The lack of time has been my biggest downfall and I really need to focus on a better schedule for myself.

...I may stop in to see a friend of mine. He's been in drug rehabilitation somewhere near Savannah for several weeks now. Apparently a couple of years ago he started getting involved in some stuff he really shouldn't have and really screwed himself up badly. Hopefully he is starting to get his life back together because at 40 it's a bit late to stop acting like a child and learn to be an adult. I guess we all have our weak moments but it's all about ho you choose to deal with them.

When I first moved out to the Carrollton area in 1989 West Georgia College (now the State University of West Georgia) was famed as a party school in addition to having a 3-to-1 ration of girls and guys. Now that distinction has apparently gone to West Virginia University according to a new study.

We were thinking awhile back about erecting a couple of buildings at the back of our property. I would really like to move all of our gardening implements and other equipment out of the basement garage into a separate building and for the money steel buildings would be extremely cost effective. They last longer and I can still make sure that they are wired up for power and air and would be able to use it for my workshop as well.

Do you have unattached buildings for your office or workshop and is it easier than having that stuff in your main house or office?

Here's the top stories for today from the AP.

I have posted some of my cat photos in the Carnival of Cats a few times and I occasionally blog about them. Cats and dogs (I have both) quickly become part of your family and an extension of it just like children do. Obviously I care about my children more than my pets but they are a part of the family nonetheless. There are a few cat and dog blogs that I occasionally read, and Ithcmo is one of them. Itchmo is updated several times daily and has a staff of dedicated writers that love their animals. They have actually been featured in the L.A. Times and USA Today business sections and have been at the forefront of reporting on the recent pet food recalls as well as Michael Vick and the dog fighting.

Go to Itchmo for news for pet owners if you are interested in up to date pet news and reports on different products, humorous articles, pictures and video. As a matter of fact I was reading an article on another site I frequent yesterday about this woman that keeps 130 cats in her Moscow flat and when I got over to Itchmo today I noticed that they even have a youtube video of the woman feeding them the way you would feed chickens. What I don't get is with 130 cats, how the heck does the house stay so clean? I have seen videos on TV before where they end of rescuing 100's of cats from homes and usually the place is a filthy pigsty mess, but this place looked clean. Perhaps she moves them from room to room daily so that she can clean each room up after them. You have to see the video to believe it.

If you are an animal lover you owe it to yourself to go check out Itchmo whenever you get a chance.
